WTF? Friday 10/31/2014...Phase Three Part One

I must be in the minority.
I like my movies simple: Meet the hero, hero loses to villain, hero picks himself up and wins. In terms of special effects, you can put all the money you want into it. Make it shiny. Make it loud. As for easter eggs, the more the better.
But when it comes to story, simple = awesome.
With the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy, the entirety of Phase Two is one long Empire Strikes Back and I don't see Avengers: Age of Ultron being any different. While the idea of Phase Two being one long second act looked good on paper, in reality not so much.
See, Empire was one film. Arguably the best...today. But back in 1980 it left a lot of issues unresolved until four years later. Annoying? Sure. Irritating? Fine.
But it was one film.
Other films came out that same year (and the next three before Jedi) that allowed audiences to find solace in "happy endings" or that at least answered the presented questions and vanquished the presented threats. That way, we weren't pacing back and forth bitchin' and moanin' about what was gonna happening next (like I have been, admittedly, since Iron Man 3.) And I double-dog-dare you to find me anyone who sits down to watch Empire without IMMEDIATELY following it with Jedi. It just doesn't happen. Why?
To see how it ends.
The Avengers came out in 2012, and in the two years since we've had three out of four films with down endings. Hopeful, maybe...but definitely not simple: Fake Mandarin, Fake Odin, Fake S.H.I.E.L.D.
W...T...F...?
Despite this, I took it, mostly by pacing back and forth waiting desperately for Phase Three - where everybody picks themselves up and wins.
But instead, it looks like more f**king fighting...fan-f**king-tastic.
Being raised on Marvel, I have no problem with heroes fighting other heroes. That's been par for the course for decades. In fact, watching Iron Man and Cap in a knock-down drag-out sounds awesome.
But in the end, they team-up...and defeat the bad guy.
I've never read Civil War, and I never want to, but I know the MMU is going about things differently. This is good. I also understand that even though rumors have been out and about for a while, this film was announced only a few days ago - so casting and script and all that is still in pre-production.
But is there even going to be a villain in this film?
And how is Steve going to fight Tony without his shield? I mean...it's broken, right? Winter Solder, Falcon, Sharon Carter, Crossbones...and Black Panther (about damn time) are supposed to appear, but will they be fighting each other? Will Infinity Gauntlet factor in somehow? What the hell?
I know intel to trickle out for the next year, so I'm not expecting to pace back and forth for yet another Marvel Movie Phase. What I'm saying is - my legs are tired and my head hurts.
Would Serpent Society have been that bad?

First Impressions - AoS: 'A Fractured House'

This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
That will happen over the summer after my purchase of the Blu-ray.
I've put my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once after the jump.

I saw the new A: AoU trailer...

...and my biggest complaint?
Steve is worthy.
I mean yeah, Kal is too...
...but Steve is definitely worthy.
I feel I'm gonna be using this a lot this coming year...

(Yawn) Sorry about that...

...I was up at 4 this morning and worked 14 hours today,
so I haven't had a chance to blog until now.
So...what'd I miss?

Well F**K! G*D D**N EFFIN' WORK!
Looking at this line up, don't tell me there won't be Iron Man 2020 in, you know, 2020.
What, did I miss that announcement too?

There's a rumor Cumberbatch is up for Dr. Strange...

and so far, it's "just talk".
But since other names have already been batted around, I was wondering when his name came up.
How about another?
Just sayin'

Monday Movie Roundup...10/27/2014

What up Pepe?
GotG made less than $555 thousand over the weekend in the States,
but it's at $752.6 million worldwide.
Not bad.
Meanwhile...
Oh. Sorry. My bad.
John Wick looks awesome, but I haven't seen it yet.
It made just shy of $14 million so far.
Say what you will, but it came in second over the weekend behind Ouija...which just looks ridiculous.
And did you know John Wick also stars
Adrianne Mockingbird Palicki?
Neither did I.
Have a good week everyone!

First Impressions - Constantine: 'Non Est Asylum'

The OFFICIAL Avengers 2 Teaser Trailer...

Okay. Having seen CA: TWS several more times, I noticed the shield on the floor against the hospital bed.
Meaning I accept the fact that Cap does have it at the end of the film.
(I have no idea who found it, where it was found or how it got to the hospital, but I'm letting that go.)
Which brings me to this:
How will Cap fight Shellhead in CA: Civil War Part 1 with a broken shield?
Here's my answer...
Wanda's powers are hex-based that "alter probabilities".
As in - altering the probability that Cap's shield doesn't break...
...or at least altering the probability that it never broke in the first place.
One other question:
Is he in the film or what?

So...another Barry Allen eh?

Oh DC. what. the. hell?
I'm sure you all have heard by now that...
...this guy isn't going to be Flash in the DCMU...
...this guy is.
I know, but wait! There could be something cooking!
Well yeah, besides that.
As I've mentioned time and time before, there's a slight possibility DC's got something up their sleeve:
...
Do you know what this could mean?
Do you know what this could mean?
It means...that the TV 'verse may in fact meet up with the movie 'verse...
...with even Smallville thrown in...
...and Bale's Batman!
THAT...would actually put Marvel Studios on it's heels.

Monday Movie Roundup...10/20/2014

Well Pepe, it finally happened...
GotG has officially brought in more moolah worldwide than CA: TWS.
At $732.6 million, Guardians is now firmly the third highest grossing film in the MCU.
While still behind The Avengers, Iron Man 3, The Dark Knight Returns and The Dark Knight,
the next comic genre film in sight is
Now X-M: DoFP is the highest grossing Mutant film to date ($746 million),
but that's less than a $15 million difference.
So we're talking what...two weeks tops?
