One Big General WTF? (WTF? Friday...3/18/2016)

This sums up my week.

First, I need to apologize for not posting my Monday Movie Roundup for this week. I started it, gathered my stats, organized my thoughts...somewhat...and set it aside to add images later. Things happened, work happened, and I realized Wednesday that I never got back to it.

So what happened? Well...you know that car we got? The 'Transforming the Transformer Plan B' car? I took it to work Monday, left it in the parking lot, and came out after closing to find a police officer's card sticking out of the door. Someone had backed into my parked car.

The Good: the guilty party had in fact called the police and left info. The Bad: said officer went off-duty at 2 am, and wouldn't be back until today. So I spent the week getting an estimate (about $2,000) and surviving the week.
All well and good...until yesterday. Aaand what happened yesterday?
Crapped...out...
W...T...F...?

Well...
...at least Season 2 is out.
Mrs. Adorkification and I have seen Episode 1, and it was AWESOME. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to talk to a cop about a car...

I'm still here...

...but I'm not feeling it.
Work's been brutal - in the middle of a seven day stretch so I can have a three day weekend starting this Friday...so I can see that movie everyone's talking about...on my birthday.

WTF? Work? (WTF? Friday...11/20/2015

I had to be in for work at 7 in the AM Monday through Wednesday this week. That sucked.

But I closed last night, so at least I got to see two of my shows (in the morning).
However, with this coming out today, there's no telling when I'll be posting what.
But I'll do my best.
Thanks Hugh, I needed that.

Work sucks...

I had a full day yesterday,
so I missed my Monday Movie Roundup. Then today I had an all-day meeting, so this is all I got.
Effin' work...

Friday, August 28, 2015

This time, it's personal (WTF? Friday...8/28/2015)

I've mentioned in the past how work has changed recently, but I'm not young anymore so I'll repeat myself.
I work in retail, and my boss and boss' boss have known each other for at least 20 years before I started working there...which made me feel like the third wheel on a motorcycle.
Now set the WABAC machine on fast-forward...
Less than a month ago, my boss was reassigned to another store, and my boss' boss retired - resulting in a new boss and boss' boss.
You'd think so Hugh, wouldn't you?
Now I'm not saying things are worse...and I can't say for sure things are better. But they sure as hell are different.
And I'm not a big fan of change.
Changes in dynamics, shifts in power, adjustments and "fine-tunings". They stress me right the f**k out.
Like...seriously.
But see - that's just from the work side of life. Here at home, we've been hit with another whammy:
Mrs. Adorkification lost her job.
W...T...F...?
No, she didn't really lose her job...it's just that when she goes there, there's another person doing it.
Well, not really...
She was let go due to 'lack of work'. So she's in the process of filing for unemployment and stuff, which is good.
But she's also a maker.
No...not a Fixer...a Maker.
She sews, and beads, and has taught herself e-textiles (the art of using LED's and microcircuitry in clothing and jewelry). She's made some stuff, sold some stuff, and is in the process of making more stuff to sell.

Yeah. That gets a HUGE thumbs up.
But money's still (and let's face it - will always be) an issue.
Have I mentioned how much I HATE change?

But here's proof of the benefits of a long-lasting and loving relationship:
I'm not sure you know this, but I've got a bunch of comics.
Not a fortune's worth, but a lifetime's worth.
And I've been thinking about selling some (along with other stuff around the house) to help out. My concern (read: fear) was that Mrs. Adorkification would use said funds to pay bills, whereas I was hoping (read: selfishly praying) that the money that came in would be for me...and keep me from using our reduced income for things like music, Blu-rays and the occasional book.
I'm not proud of thinking that, and I never said I was perfect, but let me continue...
When I finally got up the nerve to discuss the financial expectations of any and all Paypal/eBay transactions, Mrs. Adorkification said outright: "I figured whatever you got from your stuff would be yours."
I'm sorry...what was that?
But then she said: "I figured you would use that money on your hobbies."
THEN the lightbulb flicked on.
We decided, together mind you, that whatever monies came from selling stuff - all stuff - would be split. I'd get some for my hobbies, but she'd get the larger share to buy e-textile/maker supplies...beads, thread, batteries, that type of stuff.
That made us both feel better.
I'll admit that some of you reading this may have come to this solution faster than we did, but that's not the point.
The point is:

'Nuff said.

I got nuthin' - (WTF? Friday...7/3/2015)

I'm tired.
Work's got me on a nine-day stretch with a visitation from Home Office in the middle of it. My boss has been on vacation this past week and my fellow assistant manager is on vacation starting today.
While my vacation (my only for the summer) is two weeks away...
W...T...F...?
I should check the fine print in my Job Description for keywords like "sucker" and, oh yeah...
I realize this is Fourth of July weekend (for those of us in the States) but I just want to remind everyone to be kind to those who work where you plan on shopping. Not just this weekend, but every day. They've got a lot going on that you don't know about, and are in fact human beings...whether you believe it or not.
Have a safe holiday weekend everyone!

AGAIN with the internet...

I was all set to watch last week's Flash episode - the one with Mark Hamill - and we got about halfway through...
...when the internet crashed.
We watch our shows through HuluPlus, which is all fine and dandy, but between Adorkette using her computer for school work and the "damn kids" in the neighborhood stealing our bandwidth, HuluPlus slows to a crawl...until it stops working completely.
The last thing I wanna do is give a half-First Impression (or is it First-Half Impression?) of anything. 'Cause that's just half-assed.
Between that and effin' work schedule this week, it will be a couple of days before I an get to it...and last week's Arrow...and AoS...and that other show coming this Friday (although - Netflix seems to work better than HuluPlus at times). Sorry for the wait...
Balls.

WTF Friday...2/13/2015

I know I've been slacking off lately.
Between work...
...and the weather...
...I'm having a hard time keeping on top of things.
The sleep deprivation hasn't helped.
W...T...F...?
But I'm on vacation next week!
So hopefully, I'll get back on track.
