Monday Movie Roundup...5/30/2016

 Morning Pepe...
Nope. Not going there.
How about here?
X-Men: Apocalypse made $250.8 million worldwide opening weekend. That's not bad. It's still the least grossing X-Men film, but only needs another $46 million to beat 2000's X-Men. Which I totally see happening by next Monday.

As for Cap 3...
it's still Marvel Studio's fourth top grossing film of all time, with $1.103 Billion. (Thanks in no small part to China's $177.7 million.) This puts it a mere $113 million away from Iron Man 3. But will it make it? This is the true TeamCap vs. TeamIronMan battle.
Which third film brings in more dollas.

What about DeadpoolWell for one thing, I had no idea it was officially banned in China.
Right. For another, the film doesn't come out in Japan until June 3rd...
...that's this Friday.
Now, I'm not expecting Deadpool to break $500 million in Japan, but consider this: by making just $236,822,783...it will break $1 Billion worldwide. Which would make Deadpool:
  • the first X-Men franchise film to go over $1 Billion...ever.
  • the first non-Marvel Studios film (featuring Marvel Comics characters) to go over $1 Billion...ever.
  • the first Ryan Reynolds film to go over $1 Billion...you get the idea.
Seeing as how Japan has yet to spend over $100 million on any film so far this year, this seems unlikely. But Japan did spend over $249 million on a single film back in 2014: Frozen.
You heard me.
So anything's possible. Just Let It Go...
Sorry.
Have a good week Pepe!

WTF Friday? 5/27/2016

huh..? Who's there?
Pepe? What're you doing here? Is it Monday already?
Oh...it's Friday. So, why are you here? I was gonna talk about X-Men: Apocalypse Monday.
Captain America?
Oh. OK. Captain America. What about him?

Sorry. Needed another cup. What was that?

...one more time...

(...sigh...)
Now now...calm down.
They've been doing crap like this for decades. Remember this?
 Or this?

You can love comics, but every once in a while they'll pull the ball out from under you.
It's all...just...

What...still panicky?
WTF? man...calm the hell down. It'll be over by October.
Now have a good weekend, and stay the hell away from the stores.

Monday Movie Roundup...5/23/2016

Another weekend gone Pepe. What's going on?
WHAT'S THAT? OVER $1 BILLION?
That makes CA:CW the fourth Marvel Studios film to cross that threshold.
And in less than a month? Holy s#!t!
That's from $347.3 million in the States, and $706.1 million from everywhere else, (but mostly from South Korea's $60.7 million and - surprise, surprise, China's $164.2 million). And give it up for Slovenia and their $84,227 contribution!
You said it Hugh! And thanks for the reminder...
X-Men: Apocalypse came out (somewhere?) this weekend...and made $103.3 million so far.
You heard me John. But lets compare, shall we?
X-Men, the movie that started this whole ball rolling, only made $296.3 million worldwide.
No. Seriously.
 X-Men 2? $407.7 million.
$459.4 million.
$353.6 million.
$747.9 million.
And we all know that Deadpool is the biggest moneymaker of the franchise.
So explain to me why FOX doesn't want to share.

I'll admit that Apocalypse will most likely reach $1 billion by some point, but even so, FOX needs to join the team.
What about them?
Oh, $870.2 million worldwide.
Yep. They're panickin'...
