Monday Movie Roundup...9/28/2015

Mornin' Pepe!

To start with, Ant-Man made another $360,000 in the U.S. and is now at $406.7 million worldwide. It still has about $43 million to go before claiming the #9 MCU Movie spot from Thor
But what's more interesting is that this is just how the film stands among Marvel Movies.
According to boxofficemojo.com, Amt-Man is also considered a Heist film.
I know, I know - no surprises there.
But when comparing Ant-Man's total Domestic Gross to that of every other Heist films going back to The Brink's Job (December, 1978 - one week before Superman: The Movie), it's #4.
That's right - just Inception, Fast Five and Ocean's Eleven made more in the States, and Ocean's is only about $5 million away from being taken down.
NICE!!!!!

The only other movie news that struck me was this -
Not the premise, the message or anything like that...
...I just didn't know Louis Hamilton was part of that crowd.
Have a good week everyone!

Comic Alphabet: Z

Zatanna...or at least I hope so, 'cause f that's Zatara, then DC's come a long way baby.
But it also could have been Zeus (Marvel), Zeus (DC), Zorro (any version really...), Zsasz, Zodiac, ZOMBIE (who's awesome, Marvel), Zzzax, Zinc (of the Metal Men, DC) or Zaladane (from the Savage Land, Marvel).

Comic Alphabet: Y

Yellowjacket? Really?
I mean granted, there aren't that many, but I would have gone with the Hank Pym Yellowjacket myself. How about Yondu? You could have had the sonic arrow with him! But you gotta have the fin. 'Cause it ain't Yondu without the fin.

WTF? Friday...9/25/2015

First of all, why didn't AoS start the same week as Gotham?

W...T...F...?

Secondly, they say sequels and remakes are on their way out, but Alien: Paradise LostMen In Black the new Trilogy?

This..?

F**kin' Hollywood...

Comic Alphabet: X

Uh...shouldn't he be under 'P'?
It could have been X-Ray (from the U-Foes), or X-23, or...umm...Xemnu?

First Impressions - Gotham: "Rise of the Villains: Damned If You Do..."

Here we go again...
This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
It's just my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once (a la AoS).
Spoilers ahead.
You've been warned...

Season 2 Episode 1: "Rise of the Villains: Damned If You Do..."

The Good: Seeing everyone again, but most importantly...
 ...Butch...
 ...Cat...
...Loeb...
...and Nygma, who looks better without the glasses.

The Bad:
Really Bruce? You're going to throw yourself at a door? A SOLID METAL DOOR?
Speaking of Bruce...

The WTF?:
"Screw it!"
I never thought I would EVER hear Bruce say those words.
Any Bruce...
...you can pick the Bruce...I just can't imagine him saying that. Ever.

In what DC Universe would Arkham put a female patient in the same room as all the male patients?
That's some straight up right there.
I get that they'd all "escape" in the confusion and wind up together in the same room with "Leviathan-guy"...
(seriously, WTF's up with that? I kept looking for the portable voice box)
...and "Leviathan-guy" talking about building a Suicide Squad Team of Villains, but Barbara should have been in her own part of the place is all I'm sayin'.

Adorkification Moment:
"Holey Moley!"

Oh Gordon...
...DAMN you for getting a Chris Isaak song in my head!

That better have been Jimmy Olsen taking pics at Loeb's "Retirement Party"...

And that's all I got from this episode...
...what?
 Jerome? Something about Jerome?
Nope. Not buying it. Too easy.
Chances are he'll be like Hyena or something...
What? Hyena's a real character in the DCU:
well, yeah - there's him, but I was referring to this Hyena:
okay...this Hyena's a she named Summer Day, but it wouldn't be the first time a comic-themed show royally f**ked with us.
Yeah, I went there...

Comic Alphabet: W

Just don't kick him in the balls...he'll take it personal.
I would have gone with the brown costume, it's always suited him better. Right Hugh?
Damn straight.
Then there's other characters, like Walrus...
..he's an old Spidey villain...
...what? I'm not making him up. Look him up if you don't believe me.
There's also Weather Wizard (DC), or Wizard (Marvel), Whizzer (Silver Age Marvel), Whizzer (Squadron Supreme), Watcher, Whiplash (aka Blacklash, Marvel), Wonder Man (Marvel), Wonder Man (DC), Wonder Woman (duh!), Wonder Girl (double duh!!), Wrecker (of the Wrecking Crew, Marvel), Wasp, Whirlwind (Marvel villain), Will o' the Wisp (another Spidey villain), Wendigo, Werewolf, and Wolfsbane (of the New Mutants).

Comic Alphabet: V

See - I would have gone with Vision...
But yeah, there's Venom, Vulture, Viper (Marvel), the other Viper (a woman who dressed in green a lot - also from Marvel), Vishnu (referenced by Doctor Strange, although I've never seen the character), Vapor (of the U-Foes), Vector (also of the U-Foes), and Vixen (DC).

That's all I got.
Sorry...

Comic Alphabet: U

WAIT! I know this one...
Aside from Ultron, it could have been Unus the Untouchable (former partner of the Blob), and U-Man (a Nazi Atlantean...)
I'm not making that up.
And there's Ultra Boy. (Man those Legion of Super-Heroes failed ad creative code-name giving.) I'm sure there are at least 5 more characters out there, but I can't think of 'em.
