First Impressions - Gotham: 'Selina Kyle'

This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
It's just my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once (a la AoS).
Spoilers after the jump.

Monday Movie Roundup...9/29/2014

Good morning Pepe!
GotG has officially made roughly $700,000 more in the U.S. than Iron Man,
but that's just talking Domestic dollars.
Worldwide, however, GotG beat that milestone several weeks ago.
As of this morning, it is still fifth highest grossing Marvel Studios film, right behind...
...by like $500,000.
What's really interesting is that T: TDW was in theaters for 23 weeks when it earned it's final $644.8 million.
GotG, on the other hand, has only been out for eight and a half weeks.
That's right - GotG is less than a million dollars away from beating a film that was out for more than twice as long.
Not bad Marvel Studios. Not bad at all.

Bill and Ted...Part 3?

Is that Death on bass?
'Cause if Death was in a band, he'd play bass.
Now, tell me the two hot chicks from the first the first film are still around.
And what the hell is on drums?

Random Thoughts on Marvel's Mockingbird...

Random thoughts:
1) Clearly, she's HYDRA in this picture and no doubt deep undercover. My guess is she went in prior to Fury's "death" in CA: TWS, and had to stay quiet during all that S.H.I.E.L.D. destruction stuff.
2) While it's possible she's met Clint at some point in the past, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Bobbi thought he was an a-hole.
3) There's no doubt in my mind that she'll show up in A2, at which point she'll realize he's not as big an a-hole as she thought.
and finally...
4) In the comics, Black Canary is a brunette who wore a blonde wig (until she dyed her hair). On Arrow, the character also wears a wig, even though her hair is blonde-ish. In the comics, Mockingbird is a natural blonde, so..?

First Impressions - AoS: 'Shadows'

This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
That will happen over the summer after my purchase of the Blu-ray.
I've put my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once after the jump.

Monday Movie Roundup...9/22/2014

Okay Pepe, how's GotG doing?
They've got $632.2 million in the bank now.
What does that mean?
...has just dropped to 6th all-time Marvel Studios film.
In fourth place?
GotG has been out for eight weeks, T:TDW ran for 23.
Do I think GotG will stay in theaters that long? No, I don't.
However, T:TDW is leading by only $12.5 million. So it's possible these two films will be swapping places.
In third place, with $714.1 million...
...which is less than $100 million away.

Have you seen Forever on ABC?

It stars this guy:
Reed Richards Ioan Gruffudd, and is basically
with a big ol' helping of
and the basic plot of
plus a dash of
with an unexpected hint of
added in for good measure...
(sigh)
On the up side,
it's good to see Judd Hirsch in something again.
I loved him in

So...Deadpool...

This is Deadpool.
Actually, this is a CGI Deadpool.
This is a CGI Deadpool voiced by Ryan Reynolds.
This is a CGI Deadpool voiced by Ryan Reynolds as test footage for a feature film...
...that's been greenlit.
And given a release date of February 12, 2016.
Yes, that's the same 2016 as Doctor Strange and Cap 3.
And whatever DC decides to attempt to do. Maybe.

WTF? Fridays...9/19/2014

...uh...
W...T...F...?
Plus...
Show me the Millennium Falcon, an X-Wing, a TIE fighter, and Mal's Firefly-class ship -
'cause I don't see 'em.
Doctor Strange is coming July 8, 2016,
but will it before or after the events from the Netflix series-es?
And Supergirl is coming to a television near you...on CBS!
I'm not against the idea of Supergirl getting a show,
but is it gonna be part of GothamArrow/FlashSmallvilleConstantine?
Oh those wacky folks at DC...

I read the Avengers: Age of Ultron Synopsis...

,,,and here are my thoughts:
1) What the hell kind of 'dormant peacekeeping program' requires Tony's involvement at all? Why doesn't he create his own? Unless...this is his dormant peacekeeping program, either his or his father's.
2) If we are to believe Ultron is the result of this snafu, how do Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch get involved? 2a) Are they part of Von Strucker's plan to take over the world in the ensuing chaos Ultron creates?
3) Does Von Strucker even have a plan to take control of the world away from Ultron? Because, you know, world domination isn't something one shares.
4) How many people are going to let Tony slide on this? Thor might, but Cap sure won't.
and finally,
5) Sound's cool, but will Coulson and his team show up?

Let me say one thing about Gotham...

...I've got five bucks that says we see him in the first five minutes of the first episode.
We won't get a name, he won't say much (if anything) and will most likely have a "walk-on" scene, where he crosses a street and gets cut off by a cab. Something juuust memorable enough so that when he comes back six episodes in we can all say "So THAT'S who that was!"

Monday Movie Roundup...9/15/2014

Can you believe we're already halfway through September?
Me neither.
GotG made another $8 million in the States over the weekend.
Hang on now, because that money helped put Guardians over the $611 million mark worldwide.
While that still keeps GotG at 6th place amid Marvel Studio films,
it is now only a mere $12.4 million away from the #5 spot currently held by...
An interesting side note:
Over 2014, several films held the #1 spot more than one week in a row. X-Men: Days of Future Past was #1 twice, along with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers 4 and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. While Captain America: The Winter Soldier was there for three weeks.
Guardians...had it for FIVE!
True, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles took it away for those two weeks,
but Guardians took it back for FOUR CONSECUTIVE WEEKS.
That's...pretty good!
