Monday Movie Roundup...

 Hey Pepe, guess what?
Doctor Strange has now made over $494 million worldwide.
That puts it firmly in 11th place among all Marvel Studios films, ahead of Thor and behind Ant-Man.
And who would have guessed I'd ever mention a Paul Rudd film out-performing a Benedict Cumberbatch film...and be happy about it?
Speaking of Benedict,
Doctor Strange is now his third top-grossing film.
Yep. Beating that one too.
And it's just $460 million from taking the #2 spot away from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies!
What? That's totally doable!

Have a great week Pepe!

No. Really. A Dork's political rant...

Based on what's happening in places like "the other Portland", one thing makes me happy: if things went the other way, there would have been a lot more displays of discontent resulting in not only property damage but injury, death and most likely strange fruit swinging from trees.

Why would any woman vote for him?

One thing I've learned from the Republican Party: cheating on my wife might cost me my job, but demeaning and groping other women will get me a more powerful job.

I've tried to accept the way the world is. I really have. But my sense of helplessness isn't going away. To make things worse, Mrs. Adorkification has been scrolling the interwebs every morning since, mentioning the latest and greatest topics of deconstruction.

In fact, we got into an argument this very morning. Not about voting, we're of like minds politically. It was about my reaction to the chain reaction of events.

She thinks we should learn all we can and be prepared to respond. Me? I'm just gonna bury my head in the sand for the next 4-8 years. I've already done the one thing I could do: Vote. Now that that's done, what else is there to do? Read about things that will do nothing but infuriate me further?

This surprised her. She thought I'd want to fight the upcoming injustice given my hobbies. Well, if I had super strength, super intelligence and/or super wealth, I would fight. But I don't. All I have is a voice that starting January 20th will be forever silenced.

And I'm not alone.

But that's okay. Eight years ago people voted for change and spent every day since fighting it. Four days ago people voted for change (AGAIN) and now there's nothing to stop it.

Hope you're happy.

What the Hell America?

WTF? Friday...11/11/2016

Hey Joe.
It is very...VERY...difficult to celebrate Veterans Day without getting political, but I'm gonna give it a try.

I am deeply humbled by the sacrifices made by those choosing to protect and defend this country. The dork in me brings images of Steve Rogers, Frank Castle and G.I. Joe to mind. And as fun as that is, it takes away from the seriousness and brutal reality of the United States Armed Forces.

Thank you for your service. Today, and Every Day.

Monday Movie Roundup...11/7/2016

Okay Pepe, let's discuss the movie everyone's talking about.
No. Not that one.
YES!!!
So - it made more than $84.9 million in the States over opening weekend. It made another $240.4 million everywhere else, making the worldwide total over $325.3 million. That puts it at Marvel Studios' 13th spot.
Know what that means? It means Doctor Strange has made more in four days than Incredible Hulk did in it's entire run.
And I'm totally okay with that.
In fact, Doctor Strange has made more worldwide than at least 10 other Benedict Cumberbatch-starring films, including 12 Years a Slave, Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy,  and The Imitation Game.

It's even just $150 million away from Star Trek Into Darkness!
Exactly!
On a side note: Mrs Adorkification and I saw it over the weekend,
in 3D no less (her choice),
and I really like how they incorporated Strange's medical knowledge into the story after he began studying sorcery...when he can't perform procedures himself anymore.
(And if you want to call that a spoiler, don't. His being a doctor was in the trailers. Every. One.)
But my point is this:
 Claire is a (Night) nurse.
She knows three of the four Defenders already. She'll most likely show up somewhere in Iron Fist and she's gonna show up in Defenders. So wouldn't it be cool if at some point during Infinity War someone's gonna need an emergency procedure,
and the Doctor...
...stop it...
...and the Doctor knows what needs to be done to save them - but can't do it himself,
and Claire comes to the rescue? Being his hands while he talks her through it?
DAMN STRAIGHT!!!

Have a good week Pepe!
