First Impressions - Gotham: 'Arkham'

This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
It's just my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once (a la AoS).
Spoilers after the jump.
You've been warned...

Episode 4: 'Arkham'
The Good: Penguin makes a move. Several, in fact.
* Gordon learns about Barbara's past...from Barbara.
* Bruce doing some detecting is great, but shouldn't he be in - you know - school?

The Bad: Not enough Gotham for me. If someone tuned into the show partway through, they'd think it was Law and Order: SVU or something. I know that's the look the creators are going for, but this isn't New York. It's Gotham, dammit!
* I don't know the hit-man or the singer. Are they established characters?
* Speaking of the hit-man, we never know who hired him. Is that going to be revealed later?
* Arkham. I don't know much about the history of the family, so a little background about them here would have helped. As for the asylum, I always saw it as a building. A structure that contained (and was built by) madness. But the interesting things to me were inside the building, so having gangs fight over the land it's on meant nothing.
* No matter how strong or powerful you may be, you NEVER put something a stranger hands you up to your friggin' eye. EVER!

The WTF?: I get that the mayor's home would have secret doors and hidden rooms, but WTF was the purpose of that secret room? There was a piano, but the four or five rows of chairs all had their backs to it. It could have been a private chapel, but there wasn't any alter that I could see. Was it a screening room for silent movies? That would have been cool, if there was a screen.

Adorkification Moment: There wasn't one...but there could have been. Just a little something for us fans like, I dunno, the mayor presenting the head designer/construction manager responsible for the asylum's renovation...
Nicholas Quinzel.
Just sayin'...
