This has been awesome news.
What makes my head hurt is the long list of names going around. It's gonna be this actor. No, it's gonna be that actor. How about that other guy.
W...T...F...?
We have to remember that Iron Man was a thing long before RDJ was cast. They weren't even sure who the main villain would be until after they made the enemy suit, remember? If you check out the extra features on the Blu-ray/DVD, at one point they were going to mention Mandarin by name, while Iron Monger's suit was originally going to be Crimson Dynamo's. The point is - Iron Man was in a constant state of flux for a while.
Even if Doctor Strange isn't played by Benedict Cumberbatch, it will be okay. Whomever they get will be fine with me. They've done very well with casting so far, and after learning Paul Rudd was gonna be in Ant-Man it was better for my blood pressure to simply stop stressing.
Here's what's cool to talk about: The Plot, The Villain, The Gizmos and The Easter Eggs.
My money is on an origin story (duh).
Dr. Stephen Strange...arrogant surgeon turned humble apprentice after accident.
(During Chitauri Invasion perhaps?)
The Ancient One...who knows he hasn't much time left on this plane of existence.
He accepts Strange as student because he sees in him something different than...
...Baron Mordo, The Ancient One's other student.
Some Eastern European Royal family member whose place is somewhat distant from the throne.
At this point, there would undoubtedly be some sort of training montage, where we first hear words like Cyttorak, Hoggoth, Oshtur...and Vishanti.
We might even hear the word Darkhold (which would be awesome)!
Other names to be dropped:
Chthon
and Dormammu.
I don't expect to see either character, but they would be mentioned to set-up for future films - at which point we'd meet...
Clea. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Another name we'll most definitely hear is Agamotto...
...who's Orb is still in Odin's Trophy Room.
Which will bring Stephen in contact with the Avengers/Thor/Loki down the road. But again...ahead of myself.
Which will bring Stephen in contact with the Avengers/Thor/Loki down the road. But again...ahead of myself.
The Eye of Agamotto, however, will be in the possession of:
Baron Mordo will be the Big Bad of this film, and the final battle will be for the title of Sorcerer Supreme. The Eye as one of the prizes, and the other being...
the Cloak of Levitation.
