Monday Movie Review...11/24/2014

Good Morning Pepe!
THG: M Part 1 made about $123 million in the States this weekend.
Internationally, it made about $152 million.
(That's about $275 million total.)
Yep. That's a lot of money.
But articles are coming out complaining that this film "failed to meet expectations".
Why? Because it made less on opening weekend than the other films in the franchise.
W...T...F...?
First of all, did any other film open this weekend?
'Cause if they did, BoxOfficeMojo.com didn't list 'em.
Lionsgate needs to relax a bit.
They know THG is their biggest franchise (especially after losing Punisher),
and while not Harry Potter or the Avengers is doing pretty damn well for them.
In fact, all three films have raked in over $1.8 billion so far.
That's with this weekend's worth and another film waiting for next year.
So if Lionsgate needs to worry about anything at all, it should be "what's coming after", not "why didn't we make more?"
I wouldn't be surprised if Infinity War Part 1 doesn't make $300 million opening weekend.
First of all - it's Part F**king One! Secondly - People have lives, you know?
Not everyone (myself included) can get to the damn theater whenever we want.
So yeah, THG: M Part 1 will indeed make quite a bit of coin. Just not...right...now.
Wait 'till Christmas is all I'm saying.
Have a good week everyone!
