Monday Movie Roundup...5/19/2014

Hello everybody!
Well, holy crap!
Godzilla was the one film everybody (who wasn't working the weekend) saw this weekend.
It made $93.2 million in the States, plus another $103 million everywhere else. Making a total of $196.2 million worldwide...in just four days.
I know, right?
Not only that, but the budget on this film was $160 million - so there's a nice little $36.2 million profit there.
But how does that rank against the other giant lizard remakes you ask? Well...
...Godzilla (1998), you know - the one with Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno and Hank Azaria? That one made $379 million worldwide...
...Godzilla 2000 the remake that was...made in Japan...made just over $12.9 million worldwide...
...Godzilla 1985 (which had Raymond Burr reprising his role from the original) made about $4.1 million in the states...
...and the original 1954 version (counting both the Burr and non-Burr versions) made roughly $5 million worldwide.
That's a lotta Godzilla, but this new version is sitting comfortably at the #2 spot of all 'zilla films.
AS-M 2 made another $16.8 million over the weekend, and has $633.2 million all told so far.
That still keeps it in fifth place of all Spidey films, but creeping ever closer to Amazing Spider-Man's $752.2 million worldwide gross.
CA: TWS made another $3.8 million and now has a worldwide total of $703.4 million.
It's more than $500 million away from Iron Man 3, but still a very respectable performance.
Have a good week everybody!
