For no reason whatsoever, Fifty Shades of Grey made the most money over the weekend with $81.6 million.
I know, I know...
There's a lot of justified controversy over this film: the subject matter, the cast, the changes made between this and the novel, not to mention the release date. Valentine's Day Weekend? Really? But I guess there wasn't much for people to do besides pay good money to see a film that will most likely push women's issues back another 20 years. If they really wanted to make waves in Hollywood and the general public - they would have switched roles, and have it be about Ms. Grey and her male secretary...but if that were the case, it would have wound up on HBO or Showtime rather than in you're local theater. Moving on...
Kingsman: The Secret Service took second place with $35.6 million. This film is more along my type. I love the Bond films, and am looking forward to see how this movie portrays the beginnings of that organization - except for those legs. That concept strikes me more of a Tarantino or Rodriguez film than a British spy story. Granted, Bond had his odd jaws, but this isn't a Bond film. Are they trying to tie-in with that franchise somehow? Do we, in fact, see a young lad freshly expelled out of Eton learning about this program...only to consider it "too much" and joins the British Navy instead? That would be AWESOME!

I never thought I'd say this but...the SpongeBob sequel is out, and has made just shy of $140 million worldwide after just 10 days. It cost an estimated $74 million to make, so they're in the black big time. The original SpongeBob film was Adorkette's first theatrical experience and I wouldn't have it any other way. She's expressed an interest in seeing the sequel, so we'll see. What else...
