Morning Pepe...
In an interesting turn of events, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water was the third grossing film of the weekend with another $11.2 million. Its worldwide total is currently $236.6 million...way more than the $140.1 million made from the first SpongeBob film.
Kingsman: The Secret Service took second place, with $11.75 million. After being in theaters less than three weeks, it's made $209.8 million worldwide - so don't be surprised if sequel rumors start flying soon. (Am I the only one who thinks "comic book cover" movie poster art is awesome? I think every film ever made should have at least one.)
Fifty Shades of Grey has over $486 million in the bank worldwide. So...yeah. Perhaps not surprisingly, over two-thirds of that is from the Foreign market, so don't be surprised if sequel rumors start flying soon...
...yeah...
Then there's Leviathan...
...a critically-acclaimed Russian masterpiece that focuses on a man's struggle to keep his marriage, family and property from falling apart (or into evil hands).
Yeah, I haven't heard of it before either.
It was released in theaters Christmas Day last year, but as of this past weekend has made only $874,000 in the States.
Right - a Russian storyline about something that not many people heard of, or if they did hear about it haven't latched onto...
(sigh...)
What,
what was #1 this weekend?
Eh, just some film from that After Earth guy. Kinda lost my...attention.
Have a good week everyone!
