Robin III Part 44: Robin II #2 (of 4) (Early-November, 1991)

Tim gets another chance to stop Joker…and fails.

I have this issue in the Robin: Tragedy & Triumph Trade Paperback.
Tim and Alfred start using a hologram of Batman to convince Gotham that the Dark Knight is still around and find the perfect spot to project it. But before they do, Robin learns of a suicide attempt nearby and heads over. He saves the woman but realizes she was a distraction, set up by Joker. Tim manages to knock Joker to the ground, but takes a hit to the head which dazes him. Before Joker can strike a killing blow, the GCPD step in. Rather than take on a larger fight, Joker uses a gas bomb and escapes.

Notes of Interest:
1) There’s a scene here that coincides to events in Batman #472.

2) We get a glimpse of Tim’s regular school life, and how his nights as Robin are affecting it.

3) Tim has a police scanner in the upper left sleeve of his costume.

4) He knows (at least some) police codes.

WTF? Moment: I gotta call bull$#!t on something. Joker swings his cane at Tim, and the Boy Wonder rolls with the blow, but still gets dazed by it? Don’t tell me that all that Lady Shiva training was for nothing. Not even Bruce would have forgotten to train him on how to avoid possible concussions, but at least he dodged the acid and stood toe-to-toe against the man who killed the previous Robin.
