Singer returns...

Bryan Singer officially returns to the director's chair for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Fox Studios "consultant" Mark Millar seems pleased, so it wouldn't surprise me...at all...if this film connects with The Wolverine.

X3 all in all wasn't a terrible film. No...it wasn't.

There were some terrible lines: "I'm the Juggernaut...Bitch!"

But no more so than in X-Men: "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning...The same thing that happens to everything else" (Thank you Mr. Whedon.)

What X3 didn't do was jibe cohesively with the first two films...because Singer left the franchise to do Superman Returns. I understand why he made that decision... it was simply a bad one - because it damaged not one but TWO potentially successful comic-book movies...from two different companies.

So mistakes were made.

Singer was actively involved with X-Men: First Class as a producer, so it had a similar feel to his previous films...essentially doing what Mark Millar was brought in by Fox to do only with just the X-films. And let's face it, the X-Franchise will need its own creative consultant...just look at the comics. Chris Claremont ran the X-books for decades - and they were awesome.

All in all, I'm glad this is happening. But even when Singer isn't in the chair, he should definitely remain involved in a creative consultant capacity for the rest of his life.
