Hello all!
Looks like yet another remake dominated the weekend...(sigh)...
...to the tune of $73 million in the U.S., plus another $30.4 million everywhere else.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes had a budget of $170 million, and with $103.4 million in the bank so far,
I think it will see profit by this Saturday.
...what..?
...it's not a remake..?
...it's a reboot? Okay. Fine. It's a reboot.
But as tiring as reboots might be,
they tend to make a profit.
I remember the original series and saw the Tim Burton reboot remake, and that's about as much ape as I can take.
But in terms of unadjusted worldwide ticket sales for all Apes movies DotPotA is in third place, waaay ahead of the 1968 original ($32.6 million) and a mere $258.8 million behind second place Burton's 2001 film. First place? Rise of the Planet of the Apes at $481.8 million, which I understand is the predecessor of Dawn.
In other news...
CA: TWS has officially dropped out of theaters completely. Only what...2 months until it comes out on Blu-ray?
And don't forget -
SDCC is next weekend!
I can only guess how many cosplapes there'll be...
Have a good week everybody!
