It seems he's trying to get the green light to turn Hobbit into a trilogy, using extra data from Tolkien's addendums and notes.
I understand the logic behind this, but it feels like Crystal Skull to me, where too much of a good thing could be bad.
I'm a strong supporter of letting the creative force behind something stick with it - like Chris Claremont with Uncanny X-Men, and Peter David with The Incredible Hulk - but wouldn't it be better if Jackson did new stories set within Middle Earth instead of continually mining Tolkien's gold?
