Labor Day weekend takes us back 30 years as Ghostbusters is re-released into theaters...in 4K!
yeah...I don't know what that means either...
Adorkette and I saw this on Netflix a few years ago, and she actually liked it. Not sure we'll make it to the theater to see it though,
seeing as I have to work that weekend...dammit!
Still, I have most of the film memorized, and only flubbed a few of the lines during the trailer. What really caught my eye was that both Ghostbuster films are getting special Blu-ray treatment in September. Which is great...except that I have to save my pennies for both AoS and CA: TWS. Uh oh, dammit again!
I understand the why - they don't have an idea good enough to produce. One question: Why the hell not? You're telling me that after a whole season of S.H.I.E.L.D. with Coulson now running the thing, Ward in "custody", Skye's history still...a mystery, and several baddies and thingies out there, no one could come up with something to whet our appetites for Season 2?
I call bulls#!t on that.
Anyway, the Blu-ray/DVD is coming out September 9th...no doubt when S2 E1 of AoS comes out. But what really bothers me is that Marvel isn't doing the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack anymore. I thought it was a one-off with Thor: The Dark World, but it seems to be the thing now. I have no interest whatsoever of getting a 3D television or player. but it would have been nice to have a DVD copy to play in our living room.
I'll blame Disney for that, Paramount had it right.
I'm looking around online for release times for Winter Soldier and all I can find is 8:00 pm Thursday night.
And while I must admit that I'm getting older and can't do the Midnight showing thing as much as I'd like, it seems there's not going to be one at all.
Whatever happened to that wonderful experience?
Anyway, it looks like 8:00 it is. Now I'll have to decide whether to see it in IMAX 3D or not...
...but see, the Mrs. isn't a fan of the IMAX thing...
...well, you try to talk some sense into her.
Besides, I'll probably see it again that Sunday with Adorkette...in IMAX 3D!
The biggest thing I noticed from all the trailers and posters is Cap's costume change. My guess is he'll start out with the suit from The Avengers, get the upgrade when he "officially" joins S.H.I.E.L.D., and then return to the traditional red, white and blues by film's end.
We know Fury's in the SUV that blows up, but survives, and there's the scene where Fury shakes hands with Pierce. Could Pierce be behind Winter Soldier's return in order to take over S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Falcon looks awesome. Winter Soldier looks awesome. Black Widow looks awesome. Batroc...not so much.
In fact, other than Pierce (who I always thought was someone with a different opinion rather than a "villain"), we haven't seen any images of baddies in costume. WTF? Could we be seeing images of Crossbones or Batroc in the near future?
I've heard that Avengers 2 will reveal more of Hawkeye's backstory (and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he loses his hearing somewhere in there as well, but that's another blog entirely), but I hope we get more Black Widow origin-y goodness here.
Oh...one more thing...
...IS THERE ANY CHANCE WE'LL SEE COULSON AND HIS TEAM?
'Cause, y'know -
I read an article recently that mentioned that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will have the most Avengers in it since...yeah.
Really? I couldn't tell from the one trailer released so far where I saw Cap, Natasha, and Falcon. And don't be telln' me Sam isn't going to be an Avenger - 'cause I'll smack ya.
Yeah, Fury's in it...but he's never been an Avenger, so he doesn't count. And if I'm not mistaken, doesn't he get injured? Could we learn something about his possible longevity perhaps? Assuming that's even a thing in Ultimates, because I never read those.
Then there's the set-up. There must be something either within or after CA:TWS to lead into GotG. Whether it's the third Infinity Stone, or maybe we see how Earthling Vance Astro Peter Quill finds himself 1) on the run, and 2) in space, I have no idea, but they're gonna hafta do something.
Then there's this other rumor...
...that we'll be seeing the beginnings of Ultron.
See, here's my thoughts on this, which are the same as they've been from the get-go. My gut tells me that Hank Pym is gonna show up in a throw-away scene in a lab somewhere with a bunch of stuff all over the place. We'll see the Ant-Man helmet, and maybe some Pym Particles...and an Ultron head.
Now, whether we'll see Paul Rudd in the role of Pym or not I'm not sure. If we do, then he's Pym in Ant-Man. If we don't, then Rudd will be Scott Lang in Ant-Man. Either way is a win. But you can not...CAN NOT have Ultron exist without Pym. I just can't see it.
You know, I'm looking at that pic of Rudd and thinking...that's Giant-Man/Goliath!
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to CA:TWS. I'll probably see it two or three times. 'Cause as always...
Adorkification - the process of becoming adorkable.
There are three examples of Adorkification:
1) A dork becomes adorable.
2) The adored get dorky.
3) The simultaneous development of adorable and dorky characteristics.
