* Here's the thing about films like this, or any film for that matter: scenes get cut. It happens. It's happened since the beginning of film-making, only now there's more people aware when it happens. I don't think there was any ulterior motive or anything, just that in this case, Rogue's part in the overall plot wouldn't move the story forward. I get it, Anna gets it, and you have to give Singer props for coming out with it when the decision was made, instead of hiding it. Besides, this opens the door for another mutant to appear with Rogue in X-Men: Apocalypse...

* As for the costume, which we'll apparently see in the deleted extras part of the Blu-ray/DVD, I like it. A nice contrast to all the black outfits the others are wearing.
