Yesterday, I talked about which Marvel heroes may show up in supporting roles in Iron Man 3 during Tony's time in China.
Now we get into those more likely to meet Tony here in the States...
1) Hank Pym
I know. There's been talk of an Ant-Man film for years. But I'm not talking about Ant-Man...or Giant-Man...or Goliath...or Yellowjacket. I'm talking about Dr. Hank Pym the biochemist. Could he be partly responsible for the creation of the Extremis armor - the same way Howard Stark was partly responsible for the creation of the Super Soldier Serum? Why the hell not? That way, he could still have his own movie and become Ant-Man. If this isn't doable I'll settle for Scott Lang, working as a technician at Stark Enterprises
2) Janet Van Dyne
Again, I'm not talking about the Wasp, just the woman she was beforehand. She could be a former model turned chemist with her own growing cosmetics company. Maybe she's currently dating Pym, maybe she hasn't even heard of him. I can't see her dating Tony, given the strong relationship he has with Pepper in The Avengers, but could she be the cellist Phil mentioned?
3) Jennifer Walters
Introducing Jennifer Walters in Iron Man 3 would open the door for her to become She-Hulk in Incredible Hulk 2. There doesn't even need to be any mention of her being Bruce Banner's cousin, but I can definitely see her working in Stark's Legal Department.
4) Simon Williams
In Iron Man 3, Simon Williams would be another Justin Hammer - a fellow businessman with hopes for military contracts. In the comics, Simon is terrible at it, and the company goes bankrupt while he winds up in jail for embezzlement. He blames Tony Stark for everything and becomes Wonder Man (and a mole in the Avengers) thanks to the Masters of Evil. Now, I can see his story arc in IM3 ending with him in prison, leaving his becoming Wonder Man for either Avengers 2 or possibly Thor 3, after the introduction of The Enchantress.
