Okay...Now...Let's talk Armored Villains...

Armor Wars was one of the best Iron Man story arcs ever. I have every hope of seeing some version of it on the screen before I die. In fact, if I die first, I might linger around the Marvel Studio offices until it gets done.

Now I'm not foolish enough to want Armor Wars thrown into the mixture that is Iron Man 3, but it suuure would be cool to see another tech-savvy villain or two show up for a quick 5-minute battle. Here's my list:

1) Beetle

Abe Jenkins is a mechanic who built his own suit and turned to crime. Justin Hammer upgraded his stuff from time to time until he eventually became a hero while with the Thunderbolts (changing his name to MACH-1). While it would be awesome to see a Thunderbolts movie down the line, in IM3 Abe would most likely be a low-level mechanic at either Stark Industries or some subsidiary company that manages to get his hands on some tech and brings it to Hammer. As a reward, Hammer would suit him up. Of course, Tony would quickly hand his ass to him, but the character's foundation would be there for future use.

2) Blizzard

Dr. Gregor Shapanka is essentially Marvel's version of Mr. Freeze. Only instead of obsessing over bringing his wife back, Shapanka is obsessed with his own mortality. In he comics, he was an employee of Stark Industries and built his first suit himself (again using stolen Stark tech). He's since died, and been replaced by Donny Gill. The Blizzard Armor has been upgraded not only by Hammer, but the Fixer...and Beetle. So maybe there could be a possible villain team-up?

3) Whiplash

I know...he already appeared in Iron Man 2. WRONG! In the comics, Ivan Vanko was Crimson Dynamo - and I'll get to him in a minute. Mark Scarlotti was a weapons designer for the mob. He came up with his own suit (which has been upgraded by Hammer over the years). Here's my point - just because Whiplash appeared in IM2...sort of...doesn't mean the tech can't be upgraded and handed off to someone else. Tony's upgraded his armor once or twice in each movie he's been in, so why not villains too? Granted, moviegoers would get tired of seeing familiar tech-based villains showing up over and over again. But if the character underneath the armor was different, with a different purpose/drive/motivation, Whiplash could come back and stick around. That's why I'd like to see Scarlotti find the Whiplash tech in IM3, setting the stage for bringing an upgrade to IM4.

4) Crimson Dynamo

To further my point about different people under the suits, Crimson Dynamo refers to the armor, not the wearer. Ivan Vanko was the creator of the suit in the comics, and the first person to wear it. Since then, twelve other people have carried on the Dynamo legacy. So again, if Tony can upgrade his suit, the bad guys can too. However, just as with Whiplash I would rather see someone get their hands on the tech in IM3 with plans to return CD to the screen in IM4 or beyond. Now who could possibly be so sneaky...

5) Spymaster

This is the guy responsible for setting Armor Wars in motion. He's an international spy that stole the Iron Man tech in the first place and sold it to the highest bidder. This is someone I'd love to see in IM3, where he succeeds in taking the data and the movie ends with him contacting Hammer. That would be AWESOME!!!

6) Ghost

I just like this character a lot. Not much is known about him - not his name or background - but his armor allows him to turn invisible and phase through solid objects like Kitty Pryde's mutant power. Granted it's not a lot to work with, but when you think about it, it's scary as hell. I can see this villain pose a major threat to Tony in IM3 - possibly even motivating him to Extremis? Hmmmm?
