Death and the Marvel Movies...

It's no secret that in comics, Death's door is a revolving one. Characters die all the time only to be resurrected later.

But what about the MMU?

Sure, Coulson lives...we think...but there's been speculation and polls about "Who's next?" when it comes time for Avengers 2 and it's pretty much an open field.

But I think that Death isn't that easy.

When you think about it, Tony Stark wouldn't most likely "die" until Avengers 3, when RDJ's contract is up.

That way he can be "resurrected" in the following film...with a new actor in the role.

On the surface, this makes sense. But what sort of message would that send?

Would Marvel's movie characters die whenever any contract was up?

Because information like that is easy to find on the 'net, and then that coveted plot device would lose it's gravitas and become expected by the audience.

For a while, it would be anticipated, and we'd talk about the hows, the what ifs and the what thens.

But eventually, Death would become the joke it pretty much is now in comics.

And we wouldn't want that...
...would we?
