Iron Man 3 doesn't feature any of the other Avengers, or Nick Fury showing up, or any of those world-blending conceits that the Phase One films had. You have to keep in mind that Iron Man 3 had been in the works for almost a year, year and a half before The Avengers was released. We're sticking to the vision for these films, and showing once again that these characters are just as interesting alone as they are together.
So - "Phase Two" officially starts with this film, there won't be any other Avengers making an appearance (which is sad, because I thought Banner would appear for a scene or two), and the plan is to show "that these characters are just as interesting alone as they are together".
But wait a minute...IM2 featured the first appearances of both War Machine and Black Widow, and while War Machine isn't considered an Avenger, and we know damn well he's in the picture.
I'm convinced of the following...
* Feige is telling a fib, and that Banner (not the Hulk) will appear -Ruffalo did sign on for six pictures after all.
* Janet Van Dyne will appear (whether she becomes Wasp at this point or not)...because she's not an Avenger.
* Jennifer Walters will appear (whether she becomes She-Hulk at this point or not)...because she's not an Avenger.
See where I'm going here?
I truly expect that each and every Marvel Studios film going forward will have some cameos and/or appearances by well known characters...who may or may not become Avengers in Avengers 2.
In any case...the Red/White/Blue War Machine armor's gotta go!
