Ben Kingsley joins cast of Iron Man 3
This is probably not new to anyone, but just so we're clear - this isn't a "late-breaking" news site. This is a single dork's opinion about what's going on out there.
There's been talk that Sir Kingsly is going to play the villain in the film, but not the Mandarin.
There's also been talk about what new directions will be taken with the franchise with a new director.
I'm here to tell everyone...SLOW YOUR ROLL!!!
1) This film isn't coming out until next year at the earliest. So changes are gonna happen.
2) It's been made clear by Kevin Feige that IM3 is the first film in what he calls "Phase 2" of what I call the Marvel Movie Universe. So a new direction doesn't necessarily mean disaster right off the bat.
3) While technically the third film in the trilogy, and third films in this genre generally do poorly...look at Spider-Man 3, and Superman 3...in the grand scheme of things, IM3 is actually the sixth film in the MMU franchise. So that curse is broken.
4) Marvel Studios, until further notice, is still running the show - they have complete creative control over who they hire for actors, writers and directors. So even if Mandarin doesn't appear in IM3, and Sir Kingsly is playing a different role, it's with their blessing...to quote another, "It's alllllll part of the plan."
So..I repeat...SLOW YOUR ROLL!!!
In Marvel Studios I trust.
