The Defenders Trailer...if you can call it that...

2017 can't come soon enough.
But seriously, they couldn't give us 1:27 worth of trailer? Really? I'd take just watching Stick stand there while saying his lines.
'Cause Stick is awesome. He just is.
Other thoughts...
  • Madame Gao's forces will team up with Luke's gang of thugs. Why? I'm not sure, but maybe it will have something to do with the new distribution of the heroin?
  • Wilson will still be behind bars, but we're gonna meet Bullseye. Just wait.
  • What could possibly bring Jessica into all this? One of Killgrave's offspring perhaps? Maybe even a female purple-skinned teenager from Canada? Who'll wind up on the side of the angels and head back north?
  • The Hand will return. This is what brings Stick back to New York. Oh, and we'll meet Stone.
  • Speaking of Stick, that speech we hear him say? That's while he's standing over all of them. At Metro-General. Where Claire will show up. She just will.
  • In the final scene of the last episode, Elektra returns to the living. Very. Last. Scene.

The Iron Fist trailer...

Coming Soon can't come soon enough.
So. It's a plane crash and not an avalanche. I'm okay with that.
Other thoughts...
  • How will Danny interact with Madame Gao? I know nothing about her beyond the Daredevil series, so maybe they're connected in the books? Either way, she's bad. My guess is the guys who find Young Danny are on the opposing side.
  • The scene where he's strapped to a hospital bed. Very reminiscent of Thor, but that's where we'll see Rosario Dawson again. We just will. Explanation? He's coming down from a forced heroin overdose/murder attempt, which also explains how he gets to New York. Gao's baddies capture him, give him the overdose and dump him in a Hell's Kitchen alley to die. Claire finds him and brings him to Metro-General to detox.
  • The final scene where he punches a hole out of a wall? That's him breaking out of the hospital...in the final episode. He'll wander around New York, with his iPod no less, and the final scene will be his walking into Luke's new bar. Very. Final. Scene.

The Luke Cage trailer...

September 30th can't come soon enough.
It looks like this takes place after he woke up in Jessica's apartment. I'm okay with that.
Other thoughts...
  • We'll see Rosario Dawson again. We just will.
  • We'll learn about his time in Seagate, and eventual escape release.
  • Even if Jessica doesn't show up here, she'll be mentioned and/or seen in flashbacks.
  • The last scene of the final episode will feature Danny. Either Luke will wander into his space, or Danny will walk into Luke's new bar. Either way, they'll meet in the final scene. Very. Final. Scene.

Future MCU Appearance? (WTF? Friday...1/14.2016)

So I spent the last week and a half re-watching Marvel's Daredevil, and I saw this guy:
the guy who "let" Wesley leave the hospital to collect Karen Page...
...and got beat up for it...
...but ended up leaving New York with Vanessa.
The character's name is 'Francis', and is played by Tom Walker. But I think he'll go by another name:
Tombstone.

Just sayin'...

What's that? WHAT'S THAT? Daredevil? Season 2?

Now, I've only seen up to Episode 5...
 ...but that suit's gotta go.
Charlie Cox has been quoted as saying this second season may come out next April, which I'm okay with considering the quality of this show (that I've seen thus far). But he's also quoted saying that Elektra and Bullseye could show up.
But before I blew a geek-gasket, I had to think about it.
The whole Elektra/Bullseye story, even if altered as needed for this ever-growing MCU, would easily be 13 episodes...ending with Elektra's "death". If that's what they plan on doing for Season 2, fantastic.
HOWEVER...
if the powers-that-be have something else up their sleeves, and the Elektra/Bullseye thing gets pushed back to Season 3, I'll allow it. I'd rather wait another year and get that excellent story done right than have it shoehorned in with the rest of Season 2.
 As for Season 4...

A word on Netflix binge-watching.

Mrs. Adorkification has the habit...
...and she's now watching zombies.
She started last week and is up to Season Four already. I just don't understand binge-watching. I mean I've been re-watching Season One of The Blacklist, and I can only handle one episode a day (two for the two-parter). I mean after a while, don't all the episodes look the same? To me, they just blend together after a while and I fall asleep. Can't do it at all.
But zombies? Really?

More Daredevil casting news...

So, there's another member of Matt Murdock's circle that will be portrayed in the Netflix series,
Karen Page. To be played by -
Deborah Ann Woll, from True Blood...which I haven't seen.
I've slowly come to realize that with all the casting that's still happening, my hopes of seeing this in January 2015 are dwindling. Not only that, but these casting announcements haven't really hinted at any specific story so far. The next few announcements (assuming more come) will make the difference. Will there be a Bullseye? An Elektra? A Nuke? Heck, I'd even take a Purple Man or Matador at this point.
I will say that I always thought Karen Page was a blonde, and Deborah looks more like Glorianna O'Breen to me...plus, did you know that film rights existed to the "Born Again" storyline? And that they reverted back to Marvel Studios in October 10, 2012? And that "Born Again" would be a fantastic way to introduce Hornhead into the MCU, because Cap, Iron Man and Thor all have cameos?
Just sayin'...

So, Daredevil gets it's Foggy...

...and it's this guy:
Elden Henson
It took me a while to recognize him. In fact, I cheated and looked him up on IMDB. Where did I see him? Was it on ER as "Fingerless Guy"? On Psych? Law and Order: SVU? The Mighty Ducks?
Nope.
It was here...
The Death and Rebirth of Superman
Where he played...
...wait for it...
...Doomsday.
(sigh) Adorkification Cred regained!

Attention all Netflix Daredevil fans...

...now has his...
...and he's being played by:
Vincent D'Onofrio!
Now I loved Michael Clarke Duncan's interpretation of the role in Daredevil. He nailed it. But I think D'Onofrio will do it justice as well...so to speak. Keep the casting news coming Marvel Studios, we can take it!

More Marvel Mix-Up News eh..?

Daredevil gets a new showrunner.
I knew nothing about this series other than it's due out (last I heard) January of '15. So when I heard that Drew Goddard, who was in charge of the thing, is no longer in charge of the thing my first thought was 'uh...okay..?'
In fact, all I want at this point is a cemented due date and a cemented cast...basically, anything in cement. Since I don't have any cemented anything, the fact that the person now in charge isn't the person who was in charge means nothing to me.
But hey...Daredevil's still coming to Netflix!

WTF? Fridays...The Defenders Edition...11/8/2013

Well Marvel, you did it again.
The Defenders are coming...
...to Netflix!
HOLY W...T...F...?
Let's get our heads around this:
The Good: First of all, we're talking 2015 before this even starts, so it gives everyone time to collect their thoughts and plan things out.
* We're getting four...yes FOUR...series, each focusing on a different character: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. My understanding is that the order may change, but I'm almost positive Daredevil will be first.
* Each series...thank you BBC/America...will be 13 episodes long. (Hopefully an hour in length and not a measly 30 minutes.)
* After the fourth series, everyone will be brought together in a mini-series called The Defenders.
* This will be set withing the existing MMU.
The Bad: 2015 is when this all starts, and while I'm willing to bet that given the freedom of scheduling one series may start less than a month after the previous one (or have two series running simultaneously), it will be years between Daredevil and Defenders.
* You know...2015!
The WTF?: This has never been done before. Keep this up Marvel/Disney and you'll run out of new things to do.
Adorkification Moment: This is like Avengers on a smaller scale. And if you know Marvel comics like I do, that's kinda what The Defenders sort of is.
My one question?
How would Dr. Strange fit in?
In the books, The Defenders was founded by Strange, Hulk, Namor and Silver Surfer. (The last two being "off limits" thanks to FOX. But that's okay, because Marvel's found a way around that.)
My guess? Either Dr. Strange will appear in Avengers 2 or Ant-Man (both slated for a 2015 release) which will tie-in to the Neflix stuff, or he'll appear somewhere during the Phase Three films and tie-in to the Defenders mini-series by bringing everyone together all Nick Fury-like.
However you slice it, this is good. Very good. In the books, The Defenders are a loose-knit team, with a history of rotating membership, so it's a great way to bring "B- and C-list" characters into the MMU, giving fans like me what we've been looking for with AoS: new cool interpretations of long-loved characters.
As always...

HEY...NETFLIX...WTF?

So I open up Netflix this morning and see that they're reminding me that my use of their service is subject to their Terms of Use. Then they ask me to take a moment to review their Terms of Use and then confirm that I both read, and agree to, their Terms as well as their Privacy Policy.

So I do.

And what do I find among their Terms of Use under "Right to Terminate"?

"We reserve the right to terminate or restrict your use of our service, without notice, for any or no reason whatsoever."

Zombiemania

I hate zombies. Love werewolves and man-made monsters, tolerate vampires and giant bugs, like huge dinosaurs and apes…

…but HATE zombies.

They give me nightmares. Freddy and Jason give me nightmares. Stephen King novels give me nightmares. Zombies give me nightmares that include pissing in my pants and screaming like a little girl. To. This. Day.

Naturally my 10 year old daughter loves them and laughs at Daddy’s silliness.

So much so that she got together with my wife and bought me George Romero’s original classic Night of the Living Dead for Father’s Day. I hadn’t seen it yet, and when I did watch it…it gave me nightmares. My daughter ended up seeing it one night when I was working (with Mommy in the room), and she thought it was funny.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

So when I saw this documentary available on Netflix, I thought it would entertain her and ease some of my fear.

I was right on both counts. I highly recommend this. It’s only 56 minutes long, and features many creative people behind the camera; skilled make-up and special effects masters and George himself.

I still hate zombies, but now I like that I hate them.

Do I need a title for this?

Working in retail, I have the pleasure of being surrounded by crazy during the most intense times of the year: Christmas, and Summer.

I try to relax by watching shows and/or movies (which I don't have much time for), reading (which I can barely stay awake to do) and spending time (I also don't have much time for) with family.

The closest I have come to accomplishing any of these is to watch things with my family about movies and/or books.

So far, The Rotten Tomatoes Show on current - via Hulu (and yes, I know about the coming fees) is the best.

They've stopped doing the haikus, which is a shame. They may not have been fun to hear, but the challenge to create them was.

I would love to submit a review for the $100.00 (I mean the fun) the site gives out for submissions...if I had the time to watch a movie and think up a review.

But hopefully, that is in my not-too-distant-future.

The most recent movie I've seen worth a damn is Star Trek - (thank you Netflix) - which I will review now, because I have some time before work rears its ugly head again.

I wanted desperately to get into the Star Trek movie franchise. I've seen most of them, and am a fan of ST:TNG, but only Bones from the original series really appealed to me...

...until now.

The special effects are great, but the story and the acting are the shit.

And the cast! Simon Pegg as Scotty? Never in a million years would I have made that call, but it works.

And Karl Urban, one of the best actors out of New Zealand, taking on Bones McCoy. Pure fun to watch.

This movie makes me want to buy the entire Star Trek DVD line. Every episode. Of every series. And every movie. Ever made. Starting with this one.

Needless to say this makes my wife nervous. Of course she's a fan of TOS and DS9, so she can't complain too much.

I also just read Identity Crisis, which shows just how behind I am in all things fun.

But that review's for another time...
