Well, it's Tuesday 1/14/2014, and you know what that means...

...I can finally watch the first post-holiday episode of AoS...tomorrow.
I've never liked HuluPlus, even though they push the temptations right into my face. They're like "oooh, you could watch all five Psych episodes back-to-back right now if you pay us a monthly fee..."
And I'm like, "yeah, that's true...but you're talking to a guy who had to wait three years for The Empire Strikes Back and another four for Return of the Jedi. So, another twelve days? I think I can swing it."
Anyway, I have done my best to keep my head in the sand about what's happened so far, but I did learn something cool that practically everyone else already knows...so if you want to stay out in the cold, don't hit the jump.

In more Agents of Shield news...

It appears that Hulu Plus owners get to see the first Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode of 2014 before the rest of us...
...so I gotta wait another week. On the upside, Hulu's commercial breaks are significantly shorter!

Hey! Misfits is back on Hulu!

I love this show...it's what NBC's Heroes should have been.
It's ridiculously well written and goes deep into dark comedy.
Mrs. Adorkification and I have only seen the first episode so far,
and from what I hear this will be the final season/series,
but it's great.
So check it out...if you haven't already...

Thanks Hulu...

...because now I can sort my laundry, do some dishes, even write this blog...
during commercials!
Just like when I was watching actual television.

Okay, let's talk television...

My wife and I have finally started watching some season premieres...
...Castle was pretty good, but ended on a cliffhanger.
Nice to see Lisa Edelstein again. First House, now Castle,
what's next for her, Apartment? Condo? Shack?
Sherlock?
Sleepy Hollow won us over after the pilot. We saw Episode 2, "Blood Moon" last night.
Adorkette saw it too. I had to remind her that Clancy Brown is the voice of Mr. Krabs.
(And the fact that he lost his head? Priceless!)
But both of these episodes aired on Monday...
...so we'll hopefully be able to see the pilot episode tonight.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'll be watching this (and every) episode multiple times,
and I'll need time to gather my thoughts and notes before discussing them here,
but for now I will throw out some random thoughts:
(Remember - I haven't seen the show yet, and have intentionally kept away from spoilers.)
1) There will be a tie-in with Thor: The Dark World during November sweeps.
2) We'll see a lot of "Agent Coulsons" come Halloween.
3) There will also be a tie-in with Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April.
4) We won't find out the truth about Coulson's return until May sweeps.
5) Coulson won't find out the truth about his return until the season-ender.
6) At some point, there will be an episode called "The First Rodeo", where we learn Coulson's first encounter with a super-hero (taking place before Iron Man).
7) Season 2 will probably revolve around Coulson becoming the agent we know and love.
8) I will be buying the Blu-ray when it comes out this summer.

Ramblings from a bitter old man...

First of all, there's this -
- Arrow has their Flash...Grant Gustin. One of the Warblers from Glee.
I guess it's a big deal, but since Arrow has as much to do with the DCMU as Smallville, I can't get too excited about it.
Then there's all this noise about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where you can get a sneak peek of episode 2.
The show hasn't even aired yet, and now we can text/tweet about the second episode.
I'm doing everything I can to stay in the dark about the pilot episode. Not making it easy for me Marvel/ABC/Disney...
Speaking of television shows, what happened to starting the first week of September?
In my day, we didn't have to wait until freakin' October for new shows/episodes. What's up with that?
Plus, even though Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. starts September 24th, Hulu won't show it until 30 days after THAT. Thanks a lot technology. I'm still waiting to find out who won So You Think You Can Dance and Face Off.
I remember a song Bruce Springsteen did called "57 Channels (And Nothin's On)". I can only guess what his follow-up song would be. But I can't stand working through a September with nothing to watch but teasers, trailers and pilot episodes that I'm not even sure made it beyond episode two.
Why is Maggie Lawson in a new show? Is Psych done?
Is Glee or Castle even coming back?
I've never even seen the final season of Chuck.
This sucks...

Do I need a title for this?

Working in retail, I have the pleasure of being surrounded by crazy during the most intense times of the year: Christmas, and Summer.

I try to relax by watching shows and/or movies (which I don't have much time for), reading (which I can barely stay awake to do) and spending time (I also don't have much time for) with family.

The closest I have come to accomplishing any of these is to watch things with my family about movies and/or books.

So far, The Rotten Tomatoes Show on current - via Hulu (and yes, I know about the coming fees) is the best.

They've stopped doing the haikus, which is a shame. They may not have been fun to hear, but the challenge to create them was.

I would love to submit a review for the $100.00 (I mean the fun) the site gives out for submissions...if I had the time to watch a movie and think up a review.

But hopefully, that is in my not-too-distant-future.

The most recent movie I've seen worth a damn is Star Trek - (thank you Netflix) - which I will review now, because I have some time before work rears its ugly head again.

I wanted desperately to get into the Star Trek movie franchise. I've seen most of them, and am a fan of ST:TNG, but only Bones from the original series really appealed to me...

...until now.

The special effects are great, but the story and the acting are the shit.

And the cast! Simon Pegg as Scotty? Never in a million years would I have made that call, but it works.

And Karl Urban, one of the best actors out of New Zealand, taking on Bones McCoy. Pure fun to watch.

This movie makes me want to buy the entire Star Trek DVD line. Every episode. Of every series. And every movie. Ever made. Starting with this one.

Needless to say this makes my wife nervous. Of course she's a fan of TOS and DS9, so she can't complain too much.

I also just read Identity Crisis, which shows just how behind I am in all things fun.

But that review's for another time...
