First Impressions - Gotham: "The Son of Gotham"

This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
It's just my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once (a la AoS).
Spoilers ahead.
You've been warned...

Season 2 Episode 10: "The Son of Gotham"

The Good:
Funny!
And he's right - if you're gonna go into the sewers, take the ten minutes and change shoes. An argument can be made where (a la The Fugitive), you're in pursuit of someone. In which case, you're f**ked. But Bullock and Gordon were figuring things out and making plans. They had time to change shoes. And don't tell me GCPD doesn't have special shoes for sewers.

Nygma's a cool dude, but...
"Where's the spicy mustard?"
Oh. My. God.

Good to see Selena back in the game.

I'm liking this f**king guy too. He in Sin City? Why yes...yes he was.

The playa emerges...

The Bad:
...but she got off waaaay too easy.

The WTF?:
Why beat Gordon? He out of Grey Poupon?

You're telling me that this guy goes toe-to-toe with Tabitha "hot-pants" Galavan?
He even gets shot. AGAIN! I'm sick of Alfred bleeding almost every episode. I'm not saying he should be invincible or that his constant woundage doesn't prove to Bruce that his future endeavors won't have a price. But all that fighting and offense/defense stuff is supposed to be taught by others. Alfred's supposed to be teaching Bruce the arts of stealth, flair, disguise and maybe even a little emergency first-aid. Right?

"The Son of Gotham must die"...

Nope. No idea who that could be.

Adorkification Moment:

These two really do make a good team.

First Impressions - Jessica Jones: "AKA You're A Winner"

I know s#!t about this character.
Everything I do know came from blogs and YouTube.

Episode 6: "AKA You're A Winner"

The Good:
We get to see the street signs!
Creepy f**k!

She finally tells Luke the truth about his wife's death.

The Bad:
She takes forever to finally tell Luke the truth about his wife's death.
Why does she take so long? Is she worrying about hurting him that much? Is she worried about him hurting her that much? Is the sex that good?

The WTF?:
Why is he being nice?
Why is he using his Doctor Who voice instead of his natural Scottish brogue?
WHY THE F**K ISN'T HIS SKIN PURPLE?
My theory is that his skin actually is purple, but he's using his ability to convince everyone around him that it isn't.

Adorkification Moment:

The dead fetus.
Just wait a minute and hear me out...
This told me several things - obviously, Jessica was raped while under the influence of Kilgrave. Also obviously, she wasn't the only woman raped while under the influence of Kilgrave. Hence the Adorkification moment:
Meet Persuasion, Kilgrave's daughter, who first appeared back in 1986 in Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #41.
I'm not expecting her to show up here, being Canadian and a member of Alpha Flight and all, but the door is now officially open.
That's cool.

First Impressions - Jessica Jones: "AKA The Sandwich Saved Me"

I know s#!t about this character.
Everything I do know came from blogs and YouTube.

Episode 5: "AKA The Sandwich Saved Me"

The Good:
And it's at this point Ladies and Gentlemen that I realize the titles of the episodes are mentioned in the damn episodes.
Don't judge.
I worked Black-F**ING-Friday weekend. It's a miracle I can find my face today. But getting back to JJ...
Best. Title. Ever.
Also, best use of an outfit to distract those saved from the face of the one doing the saving. That little girl will forever have a thing for superhero sandwiches.
 Moving on...

This episode takes place 18 months ago, making this Pre-Kilgrave Jessica.
Cool.

I'm STILL liking the cop.

We learn how they met, and they actually get the guy...for a minute and a half.

The Bad:
This doesn't happen.

This neither.
I get why they did the whole "Original Captain America Costume" gag, and looking at that thing she's holding no one in their right mind would wear it, but at least Chris had to wear his once...

The WTF?:

For all her testing herself and learning stuff and, well, buying stuff like high-tech security doors and stuff,
she never thought this would stop her.
She beats herself up about it, and Jessica (rightfully) stops it. But I would think that at least going forward, she'd get her hands on some sort of insulation stuff. Also...

I wouldn't have thought he'd have that type of safeguard in place. Makes damn good sense. Still sucks.

Adorkification Moment:

It's official...
Watch for yellows and blues in future wardrobes.

First Impressions - Arrow: "Brotherhood"

This is by no means a deeply intense dissection of the episode.
It's just my quick comments and notes after seeing the episode only once.
Spoilers ahead.
You've been warned...

Season 4 Episode 7: "Brotherhood"

The Good:
I'm all for him being mayor, 'cause that's what he was in the books (at least at some point).
But here's my thing about most of DC's characters. I don't know them very well. I've read some books over the years, but I wasn't raised on them like with Marvel. I know that Oliver is a (former?) wealthy guy who survived by becoming very skilled with a bow. Just don't ask me why he became Green Arrow. Or Green Arrow. Or why he and Hal Jordan have such a strong relationship. I know he's politically motivated, which is why he and Hawkman kept (keep?) pissing each other off, so that line about Ollie coming off as "The Hippy/Crunchy Candidate" was a nod to the books. But how hippy/crunchy he is (or was) in the books...I have no idea.

The Bad:
I don't know why they did this, but there was a lot of shaky-cam this episode.
Maybe the director wanted that "down in the thick of it with the heroes" kinda feel, but I spent most of my energy figuring out who I was looking at rather than what they were doing.

The WTF?:
John Diggle's brother may be a badass, but all I see is the guy from Bones.

Adorkification Moment:
I thought I caught a Marv Wolfman reference in there...but I'm not 100%.

Another 52 reference!
Well yeah, it was "Slip 52" not "Channel 52", but still...
