Monday Movie Roundup...10/5/2015

Good Morning Pepe!

To start things off,
 still in theaters...
...not.
But looking at how well Ant-Man did for Michael Douglas' career, I thought I'd check on another famous actor brave enough to say "Yes" to Marvel Studios...
I'm not going into any of his work as a Director or Producer, because he was none of those in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I'm also not looking at anything "adjusted for ticket price inflation". These are just straight up Worldwide Unadjusted numbers.
Let's inspect...
To no one's surprise (especially mine), CA: TWS is Redford's highest grossing film of all time. With $714.8 million in the bank, it far and away beat his second place finish -
at $266.6 million.
Rounding out his top five were The Horse Whisperer at $186.9 million, Charlotte's Web (2006) at $144.9 million and Spy Game which made $143 million.
That's quite the haul.
Among his top films are the two I know him best for...
...which made $105.2 million, and this little gem:
with $93.2 million.
Now I know what you're gonna say.
Legal Eagles and Sneakers? Really? And yes, it's true - I thought Sneakers was one of Redford's (and Poitier's for that matter, which is a discussion for another day) best films, and if you were alive when Legal Eagles came out, you've got that Rod Stewart song stuck in your head right now. You're welcome.

Interestingly enough...
The Sting was never released internationally, and according to Box Office Mojo it made $156 million...so why isn't it among Redford's top films? Neither is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which made $102.3 million despite only being released domestically. You mean they're keeping Worldwide films separate from Domestic films? Even though the U.S is technically part of the world?
Box Office Mojo...I question thee.
Have a good week all!
