How'd Fant4stic do? (Monday Movie Roundup...8/10/2015)

Part of me's afraid to find out Pepe.
Fant4stic made a total of $60.3 million worldwide over the weekend.
 While that's not chump change,
let's take a closer look.
First of all, the split between the Domestic and Foreign markets wasn't as big a gap as I was expecting. It made $26.2 million in the States (about 43.4%), and $34.1 million (the remaining 56.6%) everywhere else. I honestly thought it would be more 30% U.S. and 70% Foreign - meaning more Americans saw this film over the weekend than I hoped thought.
Then there's the budget.
As far as Box Office Mojo and IMDb are concerned...there wasn't one.
Neither site has anything listed for production costs.
I blame Fox, since they obviously don't want anyone to know how much money was wasted spent.
Comparing apples to apples,
Fantastic Four made over $56 million in the States opening weekend, significantly more than its 2015 counterpart. As for the Foreign market, FF (2005) opened overseas a week earlier that it did here, so by opening weekend in the U.S., it has a foreign total of $36 million...making its worldwide total $92 million by that point. FF (2015) didn't have that extra week of screenings, which definitely hurt its chances of making a profit so soon.
Now let's compare apples to the other fruit in the basket.
Using worldwide numbers (and ignoring Marvel Studios films), Fant4stic isn't sitting at the bottom. At $60.3 million, it's already made more than Punisher: War Zone, Howard the Duck, The Punisher, and Elektra
I know...
The next film to beat is Blade: Trinity, which made $128.9 million (more than twice Fant4stic's box office right now).
See that Fox? That's the ghost. You should give up on it. Right now.

Meanwhile...
Ant-Man is at $326.3 million worldwide, and yeah - it's still over $40 million behind Captain America: The First Avenger, but it's made more than X-Men, is only $4.3 million away from FF (2005), is just $27.3 million away from X-Men: First Class...
...and is now the second top grossing film in Michael Douglas' career (right behind Basic Instinct at $352.9 million).
Have a good week all!
