AoS news from SDCC 2016 (A special WTF?)

Okay guys...Let's talk.

One of the biggest drops of the event is the meeting between...
...and...
...which is all well and good.
Then I got to thinking:

1)

AoS is getting a fourth season? WHY?????

2)
Is this gonna be another Absorbing Man thing?
Where the hype results in a rather good 3-4 episode story arc...then he's never seen again?

3)

Which f**king version of the guy are we talking about?
Who dat?
Robbie Reyes?

Then the panic set in.
I guess it's okay, since in the books Reyes is connected with Johnny Blaze and Mr. Hyde. But will we see Johnny Blaze? WIll Mr. Hyde return to the show?
Probably not.
Why not just bring back Angar?

Will Reyes be joining The Defenders for season 2?
That could work.

SDCC 2015 - The Batman v. Superman trailer

Let's do this. For the record - I'm in official "wait and see" mode. Here's why:
First of all, that was Elastigirl from The Incredibles at the mike. (GOOD)
I get the gist that they're using Superman's battle with Zod as the catalyst for Bruce Wayne to (what looks like) bring Batman back from retirement - explaining why Bruce looks significantly older than he should. (GOOD)
As for the family on the roof, you have to understand that Superman shouldn't need anyone to paint a message that they need his help. He'd hear them. Then there's the disaster of the flood itself. If it came from a broken dam, he could have stopped it from happening. If it was an act of nature, couldn't he just evaporate the water with his heat vision? And why would he just hover there and look? He'd act. (BAD)
Martha Kent has a point. Kal doesn't owe the Earth anything. In this franchise, Clark didn't don the cape because he set out to right wrongs - he got the suit after learning about his history, but wore it in public after Zod's address (which should have been the catalyst for Bruce to suit up again). It also looks like Bruce had a run-in with Joker that forced him into retirement in the first place. (GOOD)
Superman meets Lex, and kneels before him. WTF? Gotta be because he has someone (most likely Lois) hostage. I also think that his going down into the tunnel with the soldiers kneeling before him was on his way to meet Lex. (BAD)
We're going to get Bruce's origin. AGAIN! (REALLY BAD)
We're going to get Wonder Woman. FINALLY! (REALLY GOOD)
What's with the soldiers wearing The Symbol for Hope? (BAD)
Aaaand Lex has kryptonite. Which explains why Bruce fights Kal, because he goes wonky after exposure to the kryptonite after kneeling before Lex. F**K! (BAD)
I hope this film has a more positive feel than MoS, or it could be DOA.

SDCC 2015 - The X-Men: Apocalypse trailer

Where to begin...how about the character?
I remember when he first showed up in the books, and I didn't like him for two reasons: he seemed difficult to write, and was essentially redundant.
Apocalypse has been around (apparently) since Ancient Egypt, so he predates Namor as Earth-616's first Mutant by millennia. He can alter his height, weight, and physical form to whatever he wants. When you add the alien tech he has at his disposal (and I guess time travel too?), he's basically unstoppable...
...kinda like another well-known character that's hard to write.
Then there's his philosophy on humanity and mutants: Darwinism. The strong survive and thrive by preying upon and destroying the weak. In other words, Evolution...
...kinda like another Mutant who believes that it's Homo-Superior's time to rule.
Now I'll admit - Appy's take is way more extreme than Maggie's, but they're on the same path, making Appy:
a bitch to write,
and essentially redundant.

Having said that, the visual of the character in the trailer looks awesome, but it sucks that the trailer is only available on YouTube through a reversed image captured on a cell.
Bastards.

Then there's the whole 'wibbly-wobbly' plot of the film.
My understanding is that this film takes place in the 1980's (awesome!), within the same timeline as X-Men: Days of Future Past's 1960's stuff (okay, I guess).
This would mean that Wolverine is most likely enduring the Weapon X experiments after getting pulled out of the water by Mystique's 'Stryker-guise' back in 1963-ish. But we're not going to see any of that, because Logan doesn't appear in this film at all...
...ahem...
...which doesn't matter anyway, because in DoFP, we see that Logan eventually does get to Xavier's mansion and sees all the living mutants (like Janssen's Jean Grey, Marsden's Cyclops, Berry's Storm, and Grammer's Beast) that died in the alternate timeline (uh-Huh...).
In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we learn that Apocalypse was created as a result of all their f**king around with the space-time continuum in the first place. 'Cause messing with the space-time continuum is bad...
...right Scott? Oh - sorry...
...right Marty?

And finally - the cast.
I have no problem with the casting of any of the characters. Who they got, to play who their playing, is fine with me...
...yes, including her. I'm just worried about the who's who of the cast.
They've added Nightcrawler (my favorite mutant by far) Gambit, Angel and Jubilee, kept Quicksilver and Havok, and got rid of Colossus? (Maybe 'cause he's over in Deadpool?) In any case, there's a lot of people in there,
so I'm sure there'll be a Psylocke Cut of this film released in time for Christmas 2016.

SDCC 2015 - The Deadpool trailer

I saw the same crappy-ass footage of the trailer that everyone else unlucky enough to not attend the event got to see...
...and it looks f**king awesome! Why the hell nobody at Fox released this red band trailer THE NEXT F**KING DAY is beyond me.
To my knowledge, this film is due out February 12 - making it Valentine's Day Weekend!
And, wait a minute...was that...
 ...was that...Colossus?

HOLY CRAP!!!
Now, I gotta admit - I have his first appearance:
and I thought the character was crap.
He was just yet another guy who went through the same Weapon X program as a bunch of other fellas, and I was sure he wouldn't last very long. I stopped collecting reading about a year later, so I never saw the character develop. How would I know this silly-a$$ parodic blend of Wolverine and Deathstroke would dominate the comic-reading consciousness?
But anyways...
I'm familiar enough to know that Weasel is essentially Microchip and Vanessa is Copycat - a mutant who can "copy" the physical appearance (like Mystique) and the abilities (like Rogue) of another person.
By the way - if any of this is a spoiler for you, you know less about Deadpool than I do.
I'm really looking forward to this film (a heck of a lot more that that Fantastic Four fiasco waiting in the wings), and it was nice to see Ryan take his Green Lantern past in stride. I don't know what he did to pass through that experience, but he's made it through and he looks good. But all this Deadpool talk has me thinking:
How much does this film need to make to be a 'hit'?
Box Office Mojo doesn't have a budget listed. Neither does IMDB. What makes me worried is that this has all the earmarks of Serenity: a fan-motivated film, produced by 20th Century Fox, created to appease the fans.
Which was, in Hollywood terms, a "flop".
Despite the rabid fan base, and the emotional return of everyone involved from Firefly, the film cost $39 million to make...and had a worldwide gross of $38,869,464.
Yeah. I loved it too.
And even though the film came within like $130,000 of what it took to make (not counting DVD/Blu-ray sales), there was a loss. And when it comes to 20th Century Fox...
...THIS is all that matters.
So what does this mean for Deadpool (even with the R rating it deserves?)?
It means we need to buy tickets. Lots of them.
* If we have a choice to see it in IMAX, 3-D, or even IMAX 3-D, we do so.
* We need to talk the S#!T out of this film.
* We need to see it twice. Once opening weekend, and again two weeks later as a matinee.
 * We need to drag our wives, husbands and significant others to see this film...even if it means sitting through some twangsty lovesick tear-jerker to make up for it.
Hey - I'm talking sacrifices here Scott!
Now, if we can just get Fox to sell the rights back to Marvel...
