Monday Movie Roundup...8/8/2016

 Morning Pepe!
Okay. Let's talk Suicide Squad!
It made over $135 million in the states, which I guess is a big deal - since it broke several U.S. records:
  • ...it made the most money for an opening weekend in August. Which means...
  • ...it made more than Guardians of the Galaxy did its opening weekend back in '14 ($94.3 million).
  • ...it had the largest Thursday night preview gross ($20.5 million) for August.
  • ...it had the highest opening day for August ($65.2 million).
As for Suicide Squad's worldwide totals,
  • ...it made $267.1 million. Which beat Deadpool's worldwide opening of $264.7 million.

But is it any good?
That would depend on who you ask. Let me put it this way: Mrs. Adorkification and I saw it last night at a theater that had three screenings.
 You heard me. Three screenings.
Even when Lord of the Rings came out, the most I've ever seen it showing in a single location was two regular screenings with the third being IMAX. This place didn't even have IMAX. This is unheard of.
Having said that, the showing we went to was only a quarter full.
It could be because it was Sunday night and everyone who really wanted to see it already did. It could be because of...I dunno...three screenings. Or, it could be because reviews have come out and word of mouth has spread. I liked it, and so did Mrs. Adorkification, but we didn't really like it.
It made it's money back, and tied into the other films nicely. So, we'll have to wait and see...
 Have a good week!
