Monday Movie Roundup...3/28/2016

Morning Pepe!

So...what have you heard?
Yeah - it's made $170 million in the U.S. and $254 million elsewhere. It's the second top grossing film worldwide (at $424 million) featuring Superman (behind Man of Steel's $668 million), and the third top grossing film worldwide featuring Batman (behind The Dark Knight Rises' $1.084 Billion, and The Dark Knight's $1.003 Billion).
But here's the thing - is it any good?
I haven't seen it yet, even though I know I eventually will, but I have no desire to see it in theaters.
I know!
In fact, I don't really have a burning desire to see any future installments of the DCCU. And who's fault is that?
Well...okay, he's part of it,
but Marvel Studios has the lion's share.
Their movies are too good.
Setting aside the fact that Marvel's films (and Netflix stuff) focus on character - and true, Marvel's still working on bringing in more non-white male characters - their stories are better, and better told
According to what I've been hearing, anyway.

Not only that,
My Superman isn't the Man of Steel Superman.
THIS is My Superman.
And no amount of them telling me who Superman is will change that.
So yeah it made money, and will most likely continue to do so...but you can't make me see it in theaters.

Have a good week Pepe!

Batman, Superman, Daredevil and Punisher... (WTF? Friday 3/25/2016)

No. I haven't seen it...but others have.
And no, I haven't read or seen any reviews. But I've had mixed feelings about this from the get-go.
Nope...it's got nothing to do with casting...
...at all.
It's DC.
WTF they doin?
Four Batmen and three Supermen in film, plus another Batman, two Supermen, two Wonder Women and two Superboys if you include television. And that's not including the serials.
I can respect the past,
but DC keeps rewriting it.
W...T...F...?
I want the film to do well. I hope the film does well.
But my gut's sayin' otherwise.

Meanwhile...I have seen Daredevil Season 2.
And yeah - you're talking two Daredevils, two Elektras, two Sticks, Two Kingpins and three Punishers - but they really pulled it off. It was great. What got me the most...were the characters.
SPOLIER ALERT
Kingpin becoming King of the box was awesome
Foggy arguing in court was fantastic.
But best of all...
Frank.
Jon Bernthal did okay, but he channeled a little too much De Niro. I'm talking about the writing. There was a scene in Episode 10, "The Man in the Box", where DA Reyes tells Foggy, Matt and Karen that she found an image of a human skull hidden in her young daughter's backpack. A threat from the Punisher.
Straight up.
Frank wouldn't do that.
A teenager pushing drugs at an elementary school? Yeah. He'd kill that guy. But use a child to send a message?
Nope. No F**kin' Way.
Then the room went to s#!t. Bullets flying everywhere, and Reyes hit like a dozen times. Again...

That's not Frank. He'd wait, and use one bullet.
Turns out it wasn't Frank. He was being framed, which made perfect sense.
That's just one example of what can happen when you let people who know what they're doing do what they know how to do about characters they know.
Here's another. You got heroes fighting each other. For. A. Reason.
Just sayin'...

Monday Movie Roundup...3/14/2016

Is it Monday already Pepe?
Ugh...

Deadpool has reached just under $730.7 million worldwide. That ranks it tenth of all Marvel movies, above Captain America: The Winter Soldier (at $714.4 million) and below X-Men: Days of Future Past (at $747.9 million).
After 38 days.

As for TFA...
$2.058 Billion worldwide, roughly $129 million behind Titanic, which had multiple releases to get to that number...
...cheater...
...and $730 million behind Avatar, which also had multiple releases.
Double cheater.

I'm going back to bed now...

One Big General WTF? (WTF? Friday...3/18/2016)

This sums up my week.

First, I need to apologize for not posting my Monday Movie Roundup for this week. I started it, gathered my stats, organized my thoughts...somewhat...and set it aside to add images later. Things happened, work happened, and I realized Wednesday that I never got back to it.

So what happened? Well...you know that car we got? The 'Transforming the Transformer Plan B' car? I took it to work Monday, left it in the parking lot, and came out after closing to find a police officer's card sticking out of the door. Someone had backed into my parked car.

The Good: the guilty party had in fact called the police and left info. The Bad: said officer went off-duty at 2 am, and wouldn't be back until today. So I spent the week getting an estimate (about $2,000) and surviving the week.
All well and good...until yesterday. Aaand what happened yesterday?
Crapped...out...
W...T...F...?

Well...
...at least Season 2 is out.
Mrs. Adorkification and I have seen Episode 1, and it was AWESOME. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to talk to a cop about a car...
