Puck Part 42: Alpha Flight #43 (February, 1987)

Puck faces off against several American fugitives with devastating results.
I have this issue.
Judd starts off fighting against fellow Alphan Box and ends up facing three Mark VI Sentinels and Mesmero. He does his best against the innocent bystanders that Mesmero has hypnotized - even keeping his eyes closed - as other Alphans take on the robots, but he eventually gets hypnotized as well. The Sentinels are destroyed, but Judd gets hit by shrapnel from one of them. Plus, he's badly beaten by the affected civilians until Mesmero is finally stopped.
Notes of Interest:
1) This is the first time Judd faces both the Sentinels and Mesmero.
2) His pilot skills come back into play as he keeps the Omnijet in the air until Jefferies can keep them from crashing.
3) He’s also able to tell that Heather’s concerns for him stem from her role as leader, rather than possible love interest.
WTF? Moment: I’m confused as to what Mesmero does with Judd after hypnotizing him. We see the mutant opening Judd’s eyes and using his powers on the dwarf, and then Judd gets hit by Sentinel pieces and human fists, so what was the point of hypnotizing Judd in the first place? So he could just stand still and get hit?
