Deadpool's made HOW much? (WTF? Friday...2/19/2016)

$325,382,596 worldwide as of yesterday (Thursday, 2/18/16).
Right on Hugh...but what does that total mean?
Let's put that in some perspective, shall we:
  • X-Men, that's the first one - the one that jump-started Jackman's career, made $296.3 million worldwide...after about 18 weeks in theaters. Deadpool's beaten that in 6 days.
  • Watchmen, another R-rated comic-based film, made roughly $185.26 million worldwide after 12 weeks in theaters. Um...yeah.
  • 300 made just under $456.1 million after 18 weeks in theaters. Deadpool isn't there yet, but it's pretty damn close.
That's impressive. But now let's just look at the domestic total which is $172,371,048 for the same time period:
  • The Wolverine, that's Jackman's most recent solo outing as the character that jump-started his career, made just under $132.6 million here after 19 weeks in theaters. Deadpool's jumped that hurdle.
  • X-Men: First Class made $146.4 million after 17 weeks. That's two hurdles.
  • X-Men: Days of Future Past made $233.9 million in the States after 20 weeks, so Deadpool's not that far behind. But what's interesting is that when comparing both movies day-by-day, Deadpool's six-day total beats X-M:DoFP's $124.5 million! I don't expect that track record to continue, but HOLY CRAP!
Looking beyond the Mutant World and into the whole Marvel Sandbox, Deadpool is currently ranked 22nd in terms of Domestic Gross. That means it's made more than Fantastic Four (2005), The Incredible Hulk, Ghost Rider and Daredevil. It also means it's more than likely going to beat both Captain America: The First Avenger and Ant-Man. I am okay with this.
Now we're talking...
At Box Office Mojo (where I'm getting all of these stats), 20th Century Fox has 598 films in their database going back to 1953. In terms of total domestic gross, after all of 6 days, Deadpool is currently #35.
That's right. Just above Gone Girl, and right below Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
W...T...F...?
Do you think that studios (other than Marvel Studios...'cause they're awesome) will FINALLY understand that when they make a movie based on a comic book that is faithful to the characters, we don't care what the f**king rating is?

But I feel I need to say one other thing regarding well done R-rated comic-based films...
The Crow was one of the first faithful film interpretations (if not the first) of the original comic. It is a gut-wrenching, brutally beautiful movie that makes me cry every time I see it, and the books do the same thing. Unfortunately, as heart-breakingly awesome as The Crow is, it only made $50,693,129 in the U.S., and to my knowledge was never released internationally.
And it was released in 1994.
Can you imagine the impact the interwebs would have had on this project if Facebook et. al. existed 22 years ago?

Deadpool is an awesome film, and deserves everything it's got going on right now. I just hope that Deadpool's success will keep the Crows of the future from becoming the Crows of the past.
